William “Bill” R. Talley, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 12, 2021, at his home on Merritt Island, Florida. He was born, July 3, 1937, in Washington, DC, to William and Garnett (Whitney) Talley.
Bill spent a fun-filled childhood, growing up in Glencaryln, Arlington, Virginia, surrounded by his Grandparents, Siblings, Aunts, Uncles, and many Cousins, all living in the same neighborhood. He was a 1955 graduate of Washington-Lee High School, where he enjoyed such activities, as track and the Madrigals singing group. Following graduation, Bill joined the US Air Force and was stationed in St. Lawrence Island, Alaska. There, he worked closely on an Intelligence Team, that monitored and tracked Russian communications.
After completing his tour in the Air Force, Bill came home to Arlington and began his career in the Federal Government in 1958. He met Anne (Ross) Talley in 1959 and after “she proposed”, the lovely couple was married on April 1, 1961, it will be 60 years, this year. Together, they enjoyed dancing, camping, and socializing with their close friends. While working, he also earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from American University, Washington, DC, in 1968.
Bill and Anne had one daughter, Catherine Lynn in June 1970. They enjoyed many years at their weekend lake house on Lake Gaston, North Carolina where they had lots of company, taught many how to water ski, fish, and ride dirt bikes!
After a long Federal Government career, 1958-1993, mostly with Department of Commerce, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Bill retired to Merritt Island, Florida. In Florida, he enjoyed fishing, golfing, landscaping, and a second career as his own financial planner! A life well perfected and lived!
Bill is survived by his Wife, Anne (Ross) Talley; Daughter, Catherine Talley Del Gallo; Granddaughters, Peyton, Delaney, and Keelyn Del Gallo; Sisters, Jeanne Beck (Mike) and Eloise Clark; Niece and Nephews, Mike Beck (Robyn), Kelly Beck Lezay (Joe), Mitch Beck (Amy), Jim Clark (Rachel), and Steven Clark (Sara); Best Friend, Walter Everett (Jean); and many many Beloved Cousins.
