Pauline Headley Lemarr

Pauline H. Lemarr, 90, of Rantoul, Illinois and Rockledge, Florida, passed away on Saturday (May 4, 2024) at Holmes Regional Hospital, Melbourne, Florida, surrounded by her family.
She was born January 18, 1934, in Maplesville, Alabama, a daughter of Jesse and Lula (Chandler) Headley. Pauline attended Bessemer High School, Bessemer, Alabama and spent her career as a District Manager for the two local newspapers, Champaign-Urbana Courier, and The News Gazette, retiring in 1997. She married Robert M. Chapman in Columbus, Mississippi on September 29, 1952. They were blessed with three children.
She married Grover Lemarr, on April 4, 1970 in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He survives living in Rantoul, Illinois and wintering at their Rockledge, Florida home.
Preceding Pauline in death were her parents; a son, Steve; a grandson, Brad; infant sister Geraldine; and brothers Joe, Curtis, Wayne, and Carlis “Babe” Headley.
Pauline is survived by her children; Michael Chapman (Shelby Deming) of Beaumont, California, Pamela Chapman Birch (Joe) of Port Orange, Florida and daughter-in-law, Sandy Chapman of Rantoul, Illinois; four grandchildren, Je’Ne (Ben) Jordahl, Kaleah (Kenley) Richardson, both of Port Orange, Florida; Justin (Mary) Chapman, Champaign, Illinois; Io (Audra) Chapman of Plainwell, Michigan; nine great grand-children and stepsons, Grover Jr (Martha) Lemarr, Del Rio, Texas and Gary Lemarr, Dallas, Texas.

Also surviving are siblings, Hollis (Karen) Headley, Dorothy (Buck) Batchelor, Diane Hall and Gail (Donnie) Spires.
Pauline was known for her love of clothes and jewelry. She modeled for Deena’s Style Shop in Rantoul, Illinois for many years. She had many hobbies; to include gardening, as her backyard was a scenic flower garden with a koi pond, family genealogy, making jewelry, and decorating her home. She also took great joy in being a member of the Red Hat Society and she thoroughly enjoyed participating and hosting events with her fellow Red Hat Ladies. She also enjoyed playing games with her family and friends. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest joy. She was a mentor to many young newspaper carriers that remembered her fondly well into their adult life.
Pauline and Grover enjoyed traveling the world together for many years.
Private services will be held at 9 am, May 10, at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Brevard County, Florida. Officiated by family friend, Chaplain Katy Dozier. Plans for a celebration of Pauline’s life will be announced at a later date.
