Norma (Jean) Williams 91, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2021 at Rockledge Regional Hospital.
Jean was born in Stone Creek, Ohio on March 2, 1930 to the late Emma and Russell Baker of Newcomerstown, Ohio. She graduated from Newcomerstown High in 1948, and attended Bowling Green State University. Jean married Raymond “Sonny” Williams on September 23, 1950 and they shared 66 years of marriage prior to Ray’s passing on March 16, 2017. Jean was blessed with an interesting and fulfilling career life that included a radio show on WJER (Dover, Ohio), writing travel publications for Educational Opportunities (Lakeland), and executive officer at both Fidelity Bank (Cleveland) and American Bank & Trust (Ft. Lauderdale) at a time when few women held such positions.
Jean and Ray traveled all around the western U.S., Canada and Alaska, as well as Columbia, Panama, Italy, the Holy Land, and various Caribbean islands. When not traveling, Jean could be found singing. She was a soprano in the Cypress Lakes Starlight Chorus (Lakeland) and the Reformation Lutheran Church choir (Lakeland). She also enjoyed golf (playing until she was 85), square dancing, painting and entertaining. Jean is survived by daughter Penny Hall of Merritt Island; granddaughter Alison (Tom) Aydlett and great granddaughter Ruby Jean of Rocky Mount N.C.; brothers Richard Baker of Senecaville, Ohio; and Russell “Junior” Baker of Peoria Arizona.
