Military Funeral will be held at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery 5525 US Hwy 1 N. Mims, FL 32754, on Friday, March 3, 2023 at 1:30pm. Celebration of Life Service will be held at First Baptist Church of Cocoa Beach Community Church 830 South Atlantic Ave. Cocoa Beach, FL 32931, on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 4pm.

Bernard Arnold Keene “Bernie”, 99, of Satellite Beach, Florida passed away February 14, 2023. Bernard was born on January 20, 1924 in Montgomery, AL. He served in WWII as a Navy Corpsman in the South Pacific. After returning home, he had a business repairing televisions in Georgia. The family moved to Brevard County in 1958 for him to work for the Space Program at Cape Canaveral until his retirement in 1985. He also loved to golf and prided himself with being friends with many of the Astronauts. He preceded in death by his wife Mary Velma of 63 years, parents Bunyan and Lois, and sister Eleanor. He is survived by his children: Cynthia D’Entremont, Kenneth Keene (Peggy), Karen Ropp (David), William Keene (Doris), Michael Keene (Lana), David Keene, Keith Keene (Lisa); 14 grandchildren and multiple great grandchildren.

We had three meetings before the ceremony even started to make sure that everything was going to be done properly and that we’re all on the same page. Island cremation arranged for the Marines to come and do a flag honor ceremony that was an excellent touch and made the whole ceremony very memorable. The funeral home was very clean and they even had masks and hand sanitizer set out. They helped setting up our food plus supplied some of their own. Very professional and highly recommended.

I had a Celebration of Life for my husband on his birthday last Friday.

Island Cremations helped me plan for the Funeral. They have been like family. I even brought my husband’s miniature poodle.

Dillon, Mike & Dawn helped me set up and clean up. We brought in food and drinks. I had a soft jazz CD playing in the rooms. The alter had my husband’s Dolphin Urn and flowers. His picture with him holding a 52 pound Dolphin was on a projector screen above the alter.

Pastor Babington did a wonderful sermon. The family & friends spoke of memorial times.

We all thank you for your kindness and warmth for this Celebration of Life for my husband.
