William Leonard Michael Weaver (Bill), age 92, of Cocoa Beach, FL, passed away February 4, 2015 of congestive heart failure. He was born on August 30, 1922 and as a young boy, moved to Baltimore, Maryland with his father and three sisters. His father, also named William, was a tool and die maker and young Bill chose to follow in his footsteps as an apprentice; quitting school in the eighth grade. He worked hard to become a machinist and his strict attention to detail, led to his becoming an expert tool and die maker, working for such big companies as Bendix Corporation and Aircraft Armaments, in Baltimore.

He was a WWll veteran, serving in the Navy as an airplane mechanic, and fought with the Air and Sea Rescue Squadron 34, in the Gilbert and Marshall Islands.

In 1950, back in Baltimore, he married Leona Iris Conner, and they had one daughter, Valerie, before divorcing in 1959. Afterwards, while newly single, he took up Ballroom Dancing at the local Arthur Murray Dance Studio and won numerous awards for his dancing skills. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman and loved being on the water.

In the mid-sixties, while on a fishing trip in North Carolina, he met Hilda Yvonne Norris and they were married in 1967. Hilda and her two children, Jerry Wayne Norris and Vera Yvonne Norris moved with Bill to Sykesville, MD and later Laurel, MD where he was employed by The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory.

In 1978, Bill retired early from Hopkins, and moved to Cocoa Beach, to help his older sister, whose husband was ailing. He worked for RCA at Patrick Air Force Base for a number of years, before retiring again. Not one for sitting idle, he later became interested in real estate, but soon discovered he would need a high school diploma, in order to take the certification exam for realtors. So, he worked hard and got his GED while in his 70’s. When real estate proved to be not what he expected, he applied for a part time job at Publix and was hired as a bagger. He worked there for many years and made numerous friends, until he retired at the age of 91 in the summer of 2014.

Bill is survived by his wife Hilda Y. Norris Weaver; his three children: Valerie Weaver Millard (husband Michael), Vera Yvonne Urbanek (husband Thomas), and Jerry Wayne Norris ( wife Beverly); four grandchildren: Amy Millard Radley, Ali Millard Ballard (husband Mark), Jerrie Norris Jackson (husband William), and William Andrew Urbanek, as well as seven great grandchildren: Declan Michael Radley, Emmeline Ayla Radley, Griffin McAllister Ballard, Brenna McKinley Ballard, Lorna Jackson, Wesley Jackson and Taylor Jackson.
