Vada Freeman, age 83, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving children on February 2, 2015.  She was born and raised on a farm in Dewitt Michigan and spent as much time at the family cabin on Horsehead Lake as she could.  She lived in Florida for about 5 years before she moved her family to Las Cruces, New Mexico in 1975 where she worked for the Department of Human Services for 19 years.  She truly enjoyed her many years serving the community.  The ocean was calling and she made her final move to Florida in 2009.

She loved her horses, goats, cats, dogs and whatever stray that had found its way to her door.  She also loved camping and spending free time in the mountains.  She discovered a passion for oil painting and blessed many of her friends and family with pieces especially for them.

She was a fun-loving, spirited woman that had unlimited love for everyone who came through her home.  She enjoyed spending time with her family most of all.  She had a personality that people were drawn to and many friends of her children and grandchildren knew her only as “Mom” or “Grandma”.

She is survived by her brother, David Tanous, her daughter, Cindy Irwin, her son, Tracy (Michelle) Freeman and daughter Staci Rosas (LC Lindsey).  Her grandchildren, Dustin (Joni) Irwin, Brian Irwin, Natasha (Herbie) Harding, Desiree Freeman, Joshua Freeman, Dakota Rosas (Alex) and Erica Williams.  Her great grandchildren:  Chasen Stull, Taylor Irwin, Lindsey Harding, Tayah Irwin, Kai Pollei, Joey Ostendorf, Herbie Harding III, Jayme Irwin.  Her niece, Julie Tanous and her nephew, Mark Tanous.

She was preceded in death by her son, Richard (Skip) Shirey.

Service will be held at Island Cremations in Merritt Island on Sunday February 8, 2015 at 2:00 pm.
