Thomas Martin Day IV, “Tommy Day,” born September 23, 1955, in Neptune, NJ, passed away at home in his sleep on Friday, December 16, 2022, in Cape Canaveral, FL, predominantly of heart failure. Predeceased by his parents, Tom and Betty Day, he is survived by his siblings: Kathy Day, Tinton Falls, NJ; Jimmy Day (Ellen,) Punta Gorda, FL; Christy Blanchard (Mike,) St. Augustine, FL; Eileen Day Cytryn (Darren,) Fairfax, VA; Matthew Day, and his Aunt, Ethel Day Haines, NY; many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and his Surfing Brothers from 13th Ave., Belmar, NJ.
He was also predeceased by his Uncle Walter and Aunt Barbara Day; Uncle Norman and Aunt Ruth Day; Uncle Joe and Aunt Evie Day; and Uncle Henry Day, as well as his beloved cousins, Roberta Day, Joey Day, Danny Day, Michael Day and Timmy Day.

Tommy was a landscaper and worked for Freehold County, NJ, but his greatest achievement was his prowess at surfing since a young age, as well as his ability to create anything out of wood or metal. He was an excellent cook who prepared his own dishes and never used recipes. He had a kind heart and was always willing to help anyone; for example, giving rides to his neighbors to the store or airport whenever he was able, etc. He suffered from tachycardia, benign lung tumors, type 2 diabetes, COPD and high blood pressure. He is finally at rest and peace.

The family would like to thank his Guardian Angels in Florida, ESPECIALLY, Jessica and Peter Krum, Paul LaRocque, Canaan Mafeo, NP, Deputy Jesse Doucette, and all his home-care nurses and assistants.
Tommy is in the care of Island Cremations, Merritt Island, FL (who’ve been very kind as well.)
Fly to Heaven like Peter Pan, Tommy! We shall see you again, just not yet.

My husband was an Army Veteran and they draped him with the American Flag as they were removing him from VITAS Hospice. We just had a wonderful experience at Island cremation with my father-in-law’s funeral. We had three meetings before the ceremony even started to make sure that everything was going to be done properly and that we’re all on the same page. Island cremation arranged for the Marines to come and do a flag honor ceremony that was an excellent touch and made the whole ceremony very memorable. The funeral home was very clean and they even had masks and hand sanitizer set out. They helped setting up our food plus supplied some of their own. Very professional and highly recommended.

I had a Celebration of Life for my husband on his birthday last Friday.

Island Cremations helped me plan for the Funeral. They have been like family. I even brought my husband’s miniature poodle.

Dillon, Mike & Dawn helped me set up and clean up. We brought in food and drinks. I had a soft jazz CD playing in the rooms. The alter had my husband’s Dolphin Urn and flowers. His picture with him holding a 52 pound Dolphin was on a projector screen above the alter.

Pastor Babington did a wonderful sermon. The family & friends spoke of memorial times.

We all thank you for your kindness and warmth for this Celebration of Life for my husband.
