Services will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Wednesday September 4, 2024, followed by a reception at the Cooper City Broward Sheriff Office station for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Democratic National Committee, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or the America Heart Association.

Thomas Pat Coffaro (1951 – 2024)
Thomas Pat Coffaro, proud father of Joseph and Andrea, 72, of Viera, FL, passed away Saturday August 17, 2024, with family and loved ones by his side.
Thomas was born in Cincinnati, OH to Paschal and Jean Coffaro, at St. Mary’s Hospital in 1951. Thomas graduated from Elder High School in 1969 and the University of Cincinnati in 1974 with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Criminal Justice.
Thomas’ long career in Public Service began in 1975 as a Firefighter and ended with his retirement from the Cooper City Police Department (Broward Sheriff’s Office) in 2017. Thomas was also employed as an Air Traffic Controller and a Substitute Teacher.
Dedicating his career to Public Service, notably as a School Resource Officer and D.A.R.E. Educator, Thomas has made countless positive impacts to members of the community he served. This dedication extended to his involvement with Police Explorers Program. With the Explorers, Thomas travelled to multiple national and international locations to foster goodwill with other Law Enforcement professionals and expose Explorers to other Law Enforcement cultures.
Thomas’ passing was preceded by his parents, Pat and Jean, brother Dennis, and his beloved son, Joseph. Thomas is survived by his loving daughter, Andrea and Son-in-Law Michael, siblings Joan, Anthony, Joyce, David, Jennifer, and his loving caregiver Sharon.

We had three meetings before the ceremony even started to make sure that everything was going to be done properly and that we’re all on the same page. Island cremation arranged for the Marines to come and do a flag honor ceremony that was an excellent touch and made the whole ceremony very memorable. The funeral home was very clean and they even had masks and hand sanitizer set out. They helped setting up our food plus supplied some of their own. Very professional and highly recommended.

I had a Celebration of Life for my husband on his birthday last Friday.

Island Cremations helped me plan for the Funeral. They have been like family. I even brought my husband’s miniature poodle.

Dillon, Mike & Dawn helped me set up and clean up. We brought in food and drinks. I had a soft jazz CD playing in the rooms. The alter had my husband’s Dolphin Urn and flowers. His picture with him holding a 52 pound Dolphin was on a projector screen above the alter.

Pastor Babington did a wonderful sermon. The family & friends spoke of memorial times.

We all thank you for your kindness and warmth for this Celebration of Life for my husband.
