Thelma Moreland, 91, of Melbourne, Florida, passed away on December 3, 2023. Thelma was born on January 1, 1932, in Brazil, Indiana. She spent 30 years working at Kennedy Space Center, retiring with Rockwell International
and transitioning with the Space Shuttle program to Lockheed Space
Operations Company, where she retired as an administrator for Pad
Operations. Thelma received many awards and accolades for her hard work and many contributions to the space program. Thelma was a beloved
member of the community and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was known for her selflessness and dedication to helping others. Thelma was most well-known for preparing and taking meals to the shut-in members of the congregations she worshiped with, as well as taking meals to neighbors and friends. Thelma is survived by her son, Steve Moreland, and his wife Susan;
granddaughters, Brianna Moreland and Nicole Kabowski, and her husband Bryan; great-grandchildren, Victoria, Landon, Alexis, and Hannah; her sisters, Dian Paaske and Delores Wools; and several nephews and nieces. She was
preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Clarabell Wools; sisters, Beverly Newcomb and Betty Vass; brother, Richard Wools Jr.; and her very close friend and companion, Paul Goodson. During her lifetime, Thelma worshiped with several churches of Christ in the area. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s
Hospital in Thelma’s memory.
