Steven Lee McDougall, Sr.
Steve McDougall was born August 21, 1950 and passed away on May 5, 2017
Steve was a long term resident of Melbourne Beach and a retired employee of the Indian River County Sheriff’s Department. A free spirit, Steve loved motorcycle riding as well as fishing and diving and spent many days at the Sebastian Inlet diving the local waters. Steve served in the 82nd Airborne Division, having volunteered for the Army and stationed in Viet Nam (173rd) during the war.
He was a loving and supportive husband, married to Carrolyn for over 18 years.
Steve was predeceased by his parents George and Victoria McDougall. He is survived by his wife, Carrolyn McDougall, brothers Robert (Annette) and Maurice (Helen). Steve leaves behind two children, Steven Jr. (Hollie) and Danielle and two grandchildren, Lily and Chase. Steve will be missed by his faithful and loyal friend Wilowe as well.
We would like to thank all of Steve’s friends and family for their support and love over the last months as Steve battled cancer. We especially appreciate the love of our friends Joe and Breeze, who visited daily to show their support. Thank you Vitas Hospice and all the wonderful and caring nurses who watched over Steve.

My husband was an Army Veteran and they draped him with the American Flag as they were removing him from VITAS Hospice. We just had a wonderful experience at Island cremation with my father-in-law’s funeral. We had three meetings before the ceremony even started to make sure that everything was going to be done properly and that we’re all on the same page. Island cremation arranged for the Marines to come and do a flag honor ceremony that was an excellent touch and made the whole ceremony very memorable. The funeral home was very clean and they even had masks and hand sanitizer set out. They helped setting up our food plus supplied some of their own. Very professional and highly recommended.

I had a Celebration of Life for my husband on his birthday last Friday.

Island Cremations helped me plan for the Funeral. They have been like family. I even brought my husband’s miniature poodle.

Dillon, Mike & Dawn helped me set up and clean up. We brought in food and drinks. I had a soft jazz CD playing in the rooms. The alter had my husband’s Dolphin Urn and flowers. His picture with him holding a 52 pound Dolphin was on a projector screen above the alter.

Pastor Babington did a wonderful sermon. The family & friends spoke of memorial times.

We all thank you for your kindness and warmth for this Celebration of Life for my husband.
