Roy L. Brooks was born on August 2, 1946 and passed away on Friday, February 10, 2017. He served in the United States Navy as a Damage Control Team Member and was involved in Gas Free Engineering. He retired as an E-7, CPO.  Roy was married to Joyce Brooks for over 25 years and they did not have any children.

He was assigned to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and also served on the USS Midway at Yokosuka Japan.

Roy was decorated with the Navy Battle “E” Ribbon (4th award), Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with seven bronze stars, Humanitarian Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation (2nd award), Second Good Conduct Award, National Defense Service Medal (2nd Award), Southwest Asian Campaign Medal, RVN Campaign Medal, DVR Badge, and Army Commendation Medal.

While in the United States Army Prior to the United States Navy, Roy was honored with the Purple Heart, Bronze Start Medal with V Device for Valor, Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation, Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation (Civil Actions First Class w/palm), Army Good Conduct Award (6), Vietnamese Presidential Unit Citation, Army Meritorious Unit Citation Ribbon, Army Presidential Valorous Unit Citation, Army parachutist Breast Insigna, and Navy Unit Commendation.

Roy retired from the United States Army after 21 yrs of service.

Roy was active in the past time carpentry and handyman work. He loved to read and walk on the beach.
