Robert Lewis Rainwater, 94, of Rockledge, FL, passed away on June 22, 2019.
Honoring his wishes, no formal services are planned.
Robert was born in Douglasville Georgia in 1925. He graduated from Douglas County High
School.
During World War II he served in the South Pacific as a Navy hospital corpsman.
After the war, he attended Emory University, Atlanta, GA and was a member of the Sigma Nu
fraternity. He worked in the airline industry in Atlanta as a customer service representative
where he met his loving wife of 66 years, Margaret Williams. He later moved to Rockledge, FL
and worked for Pan American Airways at Patrick Air Force Base.
He was active in the community and served for a number of years on the Rockledge City
Council, during which time he served as chairman. He was a former member of the Kiwanis
Club and a former Deacon at Rockledge Presbyterian Church.
He was very outgoing, enjoyed people and had a keen sense of humor. He loved to watch
baseball. He was an ardent follower of the Atlanta Braves, since 1966. He will be sorely
missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents (Henry and Lilla), his siblings (Isaac, Helen, Lorene,
Ann, Faye and Harold) and his eldest son, Michael. He is survived by his wife, Margaret, and
his youngest son, Mark, of Rockledge, FL.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made to Dr. Jey Pillai Center for Hospice Care
at Wasdin Woods, 661 Eyster Blvd, Rockledge, FL 32955.
