Ramona Damianos Motz, Merritt Island, FL, born August 15, 1938 in Miami, FL, passed away unexpectedly on November 24, 2022.

Growing up, Ramona attended Miami Edison. The Damianos Family moved to Clarkesville, Georgia her senior year, where she and her sisters (Martha Sue Fox, Miami, & Theodora (Tee) Spencer, West Palm Beach, d 2014), graduated from North Habersham High School. Ramona attended the University of Georgia where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Home Economics.

In 1960, Ramona married Aubrey Motz, III, and raised two children, Aubrey IV (d 1999), and Mona Leigh (Michael Bibby), of Cocoa, FL.

Her married life began as an ROTC wife, stationed in Giessen, Germany. A hemophilia diagnosis in 1962 for Aubrey, IV required the family to leave the military lifestyle. The textile industry moved them to Morristown, TN, Gainesville, GA, Clarkesville, GA, Cornelia, GA, and Alexander City, AL.

In the 1970’s Ramona was an active member in Jayceettes in Habersham County, GA, helped establish Hemophilia of Georgia, founded and ran Wee Wisdom Kindergarten, briefly worked in real estate, and after moving to Alabama in 1978, co-founded Hemophilia of Alabama. Ramona lived in West Palm Beach in the early 1980’s, where she worked at BTU Insulation. From 1982 to 1985, Ramona had a travel job which kept her on the road between Kentucky and Florida. After moving to Brevard County in 1987, she worked at Premier Cruise Lines, then worked as a caregiver for 15+ years.

Ramona had a great relationship with her nieces, Susan Spencer-Wendel (d 2014), Stephanie Parlamento (Don), and Terry Gotard (Mike). Ramona was a true matriarch, staying in touch with her 21 first cousins all her life, and coordinating multiple family reunions. Ramona was excited to learn about a branch of cousins who had been estranged due to an old Greek family feud! She made sure everyone was reunited, and loved to learn and share details of family history.

She was very active in her faith from a young age. As a child, during summer trips from Miami to visit family in NE Georgia, she would clean the church after services at Harvest Christian Church in Clarkesville, plus taught Sunday School as a teenager. During the 1970’s she was very active at Cornelia Christian Church teaching Sunday School, played piano during church service, and started a program for “children’s church” during regular service, which was quite trendsetting at the time. Ramona joined Lighthouse Christian Church in 1989, and again was active in teaching Sunday School, plus played in the Handbell Choir. She loved her Lighthouse “family” and had many close friends in the church.

Ramona was close with her neighbors, and enjoyed a neighborhood where everyone helps as needed. This was a blessing in her later years; Ramona and her family truly appreciates everything the neighbors did.

Ramona was very well known for her creativity, giving nature, excellent Greek cooking, secret family recipe lemonade cake, cookies, and delicious pickles. Even her pool company mentioned she always gave them homemade cookies!!
