In Loving Memory of Michael J. Fleming, Sr.
Michael J. Fleming, Sr.,74, of Cape Canaveral, Florida, passed away on November 18, 2023.
Michael was born October 17, 1949 in Syracuse, New York to Robert and Mary Fleming. He graduated from Paul V. Moore High School in Central Square, New York. Shortly after graduation, Michael enlisted in the United States Army. After his service with the Army, he became an iron worker with the Iron Workers local 60. Michael later retired from the union and began working as a contractor with his father in the family business. In 1986, he ventured out on his own and built a successful business known as Michael Fleming Roofinh and Siding, with his sons, Michael and Jason, working alongside him.
Michael was a long-time member at the American Legion Post 858 Cleveland, New York and the American Legion Post 348 Cape Canaveral, Florida. Michael was also a member of the West Monroe Volunteer Fire Department. He was an avid outdoorsman, loving the sport of hunting and especially fishing on Onieda Lake. Michael spent his summers living at the Constantia Cove in Constantia, New York and the winters in his home in Cape Canaveral, Florida with his wife Cynthia. They loved cruising on the Royal Caribbean ships with nearly 60 cruises, earning them Diamond Plus members status.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mary Fleming, sister Susan Hoffman and brother Douglas Fleming.
He is survived by his loving of 18 years, Cynthia; his sons Michael and Jason (Lisa) Fleming. Stepdaughters Lucinda (Todd) Pfluger, Denise (Bill) Ridgeway, Paula (Terry) Essel and Nicole (Jeffrey) Fraites. Several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Brother and best friend Stephen (Christine) Fleming, Robert Fleming, Jr., and sister Jeannie (Phil) Battaglia.
Michael’s final wishes are a Celebration of Life in both, New York and Florida, in the spring. The dates and times will be provided at a later for those who would like to attend.

So put me on a boat headed out to sea.
For I’ve been invited to the fishin’ hole.”
