Celebration of a Life Well Lived
Mark Andrew Smith – February 2nd , 1962 to February 27th, 2024
On February 27th, 2024, Mark Andrew Smith, a wonderful husband to wife Elizabeth Blakey Smith, Dad of Jacob “Jake” Andrew Smith, and Father-in-Law to Lindsay Manganiello Smith passed from this Earth into Heaven and the loving arms of our Savior Jesus Christ. He was 62 years old.
Mark was born and raised in Harrington, Delaware to parents Dr. Robert H. Smith and Mrs. Caroline Marie Lord Smith. Joining the family as the youngest with his four siblings Carol Smith Venema (Michael). Robert “Bobby” Smith (Sylvia), Joan S. Myer, and Neal B. Smith (Faye). All of whom he admired and loved.
He was a talented athlete, having played multiple sports from an early age, learning many skills from his brother Neal. Mark continued competition into his Lake Forest High School years in Football (QB), Basketball and Baseball. His contributions to the sports were well known and long remembered, Earning him Statewide recognition and induction into the Lake Forest High School Athletics Hall of Fame in 2018, alongside his brother Neal Smith.
He attended The University of Delaware and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration with a Major in Marketing. During his college years he was an active member of the Alpha Tau Omega (ATO) fraternity, Post Graduation he worked in Marketing and prior to an early retirement, he was a Real Estate Agent in Windermere and the Central Florida area.
Mark’s most joyful moment was when he became the father of our wonderful son, Jacob Andrew “Jake” Smith. He loved Jake so much and was so proud of him. Mark was a steady, consistent guiding light for Jake daily. His wife, Liz, appreciated it so much that Mark was the ultimate Dad for Jake. He was always there with Liz, and Griffey, our family dog, at all of Jake’s events. Both Liz and Jake treasure the many funny memories, great sporting events of Jakes, loud cheers and coaching from Mark throughout many years, in the Windermere Little league stands, Upward Basketball Hall, Windermere Prep Football and Baseball fields. and the many locations Jake’s College D1 Baseball team traveled to for games.
Although it saddens us that he will not be here in person, we know he will be watching over both Jake, Lindsay, Liz, and the family from his new front row seat from Heaven. We know we will hear the laughing and echoing of his voice in all the events of life in the coming years. Loved and, in our hearts, forever.
