Marion A. Gallo (nee Walsh) was born January 7, 1942 in Jackson
Heights, NY and died January 28, 2019 at the age of 76 at
Wuesthoff Brevard Hospice in Rockledge, FL.
The eldest of five children, Marion was both an adored daughter
and big sister. After graduating from Newtown High School in
1960, Marion worked as a hair stylist and enjoyed NYC nightlife,
skiing around the country and traveling with her husband,
Patrick. Following their 1967 marriage, Patrick and Marion
remained in Jackson Heights, where they welcomed four sons,
before moving to Valley Stream, NY in 1979. While her days
were filled with PTA and family activities, Marion also fostered
and adopted many animals who thrived under her care in the
“petting zoo,” as their home was affectionately called. The
bustling home was a place where friends and family gathered,
and were welcomed, daily. Marion’s love for her family was
matched by her devotion to friends, both new and old. Her
generosity, warmth, humor, and spirit were cherished by the
many who knew and loved her.
Marion was preceded in death by her beloved Husband, Patrick
Gallo of Valley Stream, NY, father, Frank Walsh and mother,
Grace Walsh both of St. Augustine, FL. She is survived by four
sons, Patrick (Donna) of Waynesville, NC, Anthony (Veronica) of
Merrick, NY, Christopher (Jennifer) of Rockledge, FL and
Gregory of Long Beach, NY; three sisters, Holly Dennehy (Joe) of
Manhasset, NY, Cathy Margiotta (James) of Delhi, NY, and Nancy
Nock (Page) of St. Augustine, FL; one brother, Raymond Walsh
(Sue) of Delmar, NY. Marion is also survived by six
grandchildren, Sophia and Giana of Rockledge, FL and Ellie,
Francesca, Lucia and Anthony Jr. of Merrick, NY and numerous
nieces and nephews.
Marion’s ashes will be interred at Calvary Cemetery, Woodside, NY.
