Mr. M. Roby Buckalew III, age 86, passed away peacefully at his home on October 24th, 2022.
A native Floridian and long time resident of Brevard County, he was born and raised in Cocoa along the Indian River and graduated from Cocoa High School in 1954. He graduated from Stetson University, was commissioned in the Army for four years and then became a Certified Public Accountant in 1969. He worked for several accounting firms before opening his own private practice in 1976 which lasted for 26 years, before retiring in 2002.
Roby’s spiritual faith was a central part in his life, raised initially at the Cocoa Baptist church and thereafter was actively involved in several other churches in the local community. He was an instrumental member of the Cocoa Rotary Club, Cocoa Economic Development Board and served as the President of Trustees at the Crippled Children’s Center. During retirement, he became close friends with Bill W. which led to his involvement in the men’s healing ministry through the local prison. He was especially fond of maintaining his long-time friendships with his school classmates and later being a part of the Mosquito Beaters. Roby is remembered as a fun-loving gentleman with a good sense of humor, for his devotion to his family and to Auburn University which was frequently expressed by a spontaneous “War Eagle”!
Roby is survived by his wife, Sue; his two sons Jim and Lindsay (Carrie) Buckalew and his grandson Isaac.
