Louis (Lou) Alban 82, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2019.

Lou was born on November 4, 1937 in Berlin Germany to the late Oscar Alban and Gertrude (Shaumann) Alban.

Lou grew up in Roxbury Massachusetts with his parents and brothers the late George Alban and Henry Alban and his surviving brother Edgar Alban. He was a Navy Veteran proudly serving our country from 1955-1963. Lou worked for the Boston Globe Newspaper for 32 years as a systems analyst.

Lou loved the ocean. He enjoyed sailing, woodworking, gardening, and reading.

Lou is survived by his wife Dorothy Alban, his children Paul Alban and his wife Cathy of Oklahoma, Mark Alban and his wife Cheryl of Palm Bay and his Daughter Susan (Alban) Rioux and her husband Peter of Massachusetts. His Brother Edgar Alban of Alabama. His step children Marie Eden, Dorothy Defranco and John Iverson. His grandchildren Shauna, Peter, Jillian, Ethan, Jenna, Natalie, Alyssa and Matthew, as well as many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. And not to be forgotten his beloved dog Jax.

We had three meetings before the ceremony even started to make sure that everything was going to be done properly and that we’re all on the same page. Island cremation arranged for the Marines to come and do a flag honor ceremony that was an excellent touch and made the whole ceremony very memorable. The funeral home was very clean and they even had masks and hand sanitizer set out. They helped setting up our food plus supplied some of their own. Very professional and highly recommended.

I had a Celebration of Life for my husband on his birthday last Friday.

Island Cremations helped me plan for the Funeral. They have been like family. I even brought my husband’s miniature poodle.

Dillon, Mike & Dawn helped me set up and clean up. We brought in food and drinks. I had a soft jazz CD playing in the rooms. The alter had my husband’s Dolphin Urn and flowers. His picture with him holding a 52 pound Dolphin was on a projector screen above the alter.

Pastor Babington did a wonderful sermon. The family & friends spoke of memorial times.

We all thank you for your kindness and warmth for this Celebration of Life for my husband.
