A Funeral Service for Laura Ann Mooney will be held on Thursday evening, September 17, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. at Island Cremations and Funeral Home, 405 S. Courtney Park Way, Merritt Island, FL, 32952. Burial will be Friday morning, September 18, 2020 at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery. Donations may be made to Florida Wildlife Hospital, Melbourne, FL in memory of Laura Ann Farmer

Laura Anne Mooney Farmer, age 59, of Cocoa, FL, formerly of Buford, GA, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2020, after an extended illness. She is preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Douglas Farmer of Cocoa, FL; father, James Mooney of Buford, GA; grandparents, Julia and Garland Lynn of Buford; grandparents, Ola Mae of Jasper, GA. She is survived by daughter, Misty Bradshaw of Cocoa, Fl; one granddaughter, KamiKay Farmer; one grandson, Kason Bradshaw; Mother, Grace Lynn Mooney of Buford GA; one brother, Todd Mooney and wife Jo Ann of GA; one sister, Melanie Avallone and husband, James of Carthage NY; nieces, Cari and Casey Knight; nephews, Blake and Caleb Mooney. Laura was born December 21, 1960. She attended North Gwinnett High School and graduated in 1978. Laura was employed by Rockwell International and United Space Alliance. She enjoyed photography and loved animals.

My husband was an Army Veteran and they draped him with the American Flag as they were removing him from VITAS Hospice. We had three meetings before the ceremony even started to make sure that everything was going to be done properly and that we’re all on the same page. Island cremation arranged for the Marines to come and do a flag honor ceremony that was an excellent touch and made the whole ceremony very memorable. The funeral home was very clean and they even had masks and hand sanitizer set out. They helped setting up our food plus supplied some of their own. Very professional and highly recommended.

I had a Celebration of Life for my husband on his birthday last Friday.

Island Cremations helped me plan for the Funeral. They have been like family. I even brought my husband’s miniature poodle.

Dillon, Mike & Dawn helped me set up and clean up. We brought in food and drinks. I had a soft jazz CD playing in the rooms. The alter had my husband’s Dolphin Urn and flowers. His picture with him holding a 52 pound Dolphin was on a projector screen above the alter.

Pastor Babington did a wonderful sermon. The family & friends spoke of memorial times.

We all thank you for your kindness and warmth for this Celebration of Life for my husband.
