Kathy J. Banks, 66, of Rockledge passed away on February 16, 2024 after a brief illness. Kathy was a Hospice Nurse with Vitas Healthcare. Kathy was born June 13, 1957 to Mary and George S. Banks in Homestead, Florida.
Kathy is survived by her life partner, Kenneth Elam of Rockledge, Ken’s son Casey Gilliland and his three children Tristan, Trenton and Viera, daughters Lu Anne Woodley and Lisa Elam of Florida, sister Debra Hamm (Reggie) of North Carolina, Brothers George C. Banks (Cheryl) and Kenneth Banks both of Florida, ten nieces and nephews and thirteen great nieces and nephews. Kathy was predeceased by her parents Mary and George S. Banks as well as her brothers Michael and David Banks.
A family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The family requests that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to the American Heart Association in Kathy’s memory.

I dealt with Paul the owner he was very helpful. He assisted in the forms and contacted a few people to help with my fathers passing. They are all very compassionate and caring. It is a nice atmosphere and very professional in how they run the business. They did not try to push me towards anything or any package. Paul was very professional and comforting in explaining the details of what was needed. Mike was very caring when they took my Husband out of VITAS Hospice. My husband was an Army Veteran and they draped him with the American Flag as they were removing him from VITAS Hospice. We just had a wonderful experience at Island cremation with my father-in-law’s funeral. We had three meetings before the ceremony even started to make sure that everything was going to be done properly and that we’re all on the same page. Island cremation arranged for the Marines to come and do a flag honor ceremony that was an excellent touch and made the whole ceremony very memorable. The funeral home was very clean and they even had masks and hand sanitizer set out. They helped setting up our food plus supplied some of their own. Very professional and highly recommended.

I had a Celebration of Life for my husband on his birthday last Friday.

Island Cremations helped me plan for the Funeral. They have been like family. I even brought my husband’s miniature poodle.

Dillon, Mike & Dawn helped me set up and clean up. We brought in food and drinks. I had a soft jazz CD playing in the rooms. The alter had my husband’s Dolphin Urn and flowers. His picture with him holding a 52 pound Dolphin was on a projector screen above the alter.

Pastor Babington did a wonderful sermon. The family & friends spoke of memorial times.

We all thank you for your kindness and warmth for this Celebration of Life for my husband.
