Karen L. Gonzagowski 84, peacefully passed away with family at her side, July 19, 2021 in Merritt Island, FL. Karen was born in Rochester, MN. She attended Rochester High school and graduated from Rochester Community College with an associate degree in business. She then met and married her husband Jim. They were married for 50 years before his passing in 2012. Karen and Jim relocated multiple times in the Midwest while Jim was employed with IBM, choosing Fort Wayne to settle in and raise their four kids. Karen and Jim owned and operated Consumer Contact Services and greatly enjoyed their “demo” family. She was a member of St. Joseph United Methodist Church and Grace United Methodist Church. Karen loved spending time on the golf course, entertaining, crafting, volunteering, playing cards and vacationing on Woman Lake in northern MN. She spent her later years enjoying the sun and warm weather in FL. She is survived by her brother Charlie Paulsen (Elsa), Judy Erickson (Ron), daughter Lynda Weese (Claude), daughter Leisha Sinclair (Mark), son Jamie (Amy), daughter Laurie Satter (Lucas), 8 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jim, and brother Joe. Funeral Service for Karen is 2pm, Friday July 30 at Grace United Methodist Church, Merritt Island, FL Memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist. I dealt with Paul the owner he was very helpful. He assisted in the forms and contacted a few people to help with my fathers passing. They are all very compassionate and caring. It is a nice atmosphere and very professional in how they run the business. They did not try to push me towards anything or any package. Paul was very professional and comforting in explaining the details of what was needed. Mike was very caring when they took my Husband out of VITAS Hospice. My husband was an Army Veteran and they draped him with the American Flag as they were removing him from VITAS Hospice. Paul helped me schedule the funeral at the VA cemetery as it was out of State and helped me with filling a necklace so my husband will always be with me. We just had a wonderful experience at Island cremation with my father-in-law’s funeral. We had three meetings before the ceremony even started to make sure that everything was going to be done properly and that we’re all on the same page. Island cremation arranged for the Marines to come and do a flag honor ceremony that was an excellent touch and made the whole ceremony very memorable. The funeral home was very clean and they even had masks and hand sanitizer set out. They helped setting up our food plus supplied some of their own. Very professional and highly recommended.

I had a Celebration of Life for my husband on his birthday last Friday.

Island Cremations helped me plan for the Funeral. They have been like family. I even brought my husband’s miniature poodle.

Dillon, Mike & Dawn helped me set up and clean up. We brought in food and drinks. I had a soft jazz CD playing in the rooms. The alter had my husband’s Dolphin Urn and flowers. His picture with him holding a 52 pound Dolphin was on a projector screen above the alter.

Pastor Babington did a wonderful sermon. The family & friends spoke of memorial times.

We all thank you for your kindness and warmth for this Celebration of Life for my husband.
