Joseph J. Tenore. (Joe), of Cape Canaveral, FL died at Cape Canaveral Hospital, surrounded by loved ones on March 16, 2016. He was 82 years old.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Tenore of Cape Canaveral, FL; his children William, Linda and Meg, his stepchildren Christopher and Teresa and all their spouses. Joe was the proud grandfather of Five: Tayler Shea, William Jr, Royce, Amanda and Emily.

Joe was born on October 2, 1933 in The Bronx, New York to Joseph Tenore Sr. and Rose Tenore. Joe left New York City to make his way to Florida where he spent 11 years prior to settling in Boulder, CO. Outgoing and quick with a smile, Joe was a natural born salesman and spent his professional years in various positions culminating with the ownership of his own custom apparel company, Joe Rico Custom Clothing. As would be expected, Joe was always the best dressed man in the room and his clothes matched his smile. Joe counted his customers among his friends, and the feelings were reciprocated.

After retiring in Cape Canaveral, Florida, Joe continued to make friends and charm passengers while working at the Cruise Line embarkation centers for Disney and Royal Caribbean. Many children began their vacations with a laugh and a smile as a result of interacting with Joe.

Joe enjoyed fishing off the coast in Florida and in the lakes of Colorado, watching his favorite sports teams and a lively dinner or other social occasion. Joe will be remembered as a truly generous and selfless man who was devoted to his wife and family. He will be missed more than he will ever know.

We had three meetings before the ceremony even started to make sure that everything was going to be done properly and that we’re all on the same page. Island cremation arranged for the Marines to come and do a flag honor ceremony that was an excellent touch and made the whole ceremony very memorable. The funeral home was very clean and they even had masks and hand sanitizer set out. They helped setting up our food plus supplied some of their own. Very professional and highly recommended.

I had a Celebration of Life for my husband on his birthday last Friday.

Island Cremations helped me plan for the Funeral. They have been like family. I even brought my husband’s miniature poodle.

Dillon, Mike & Dawn helped me set up and clean up. We brought in food and drinks. I had a soft jazz CD playing in the rooms. The alter had my husband’s Dolphin Urn and flowers. His picture with him holding a 52 pound Dolphin was on a projector screen above the alter.

Pastor Babington did a wonderful sermon. The family & friends spoke of memorial times.

We all thank you for your kindness and warmth for this Celebration of Life for my husband.
