Joseph Harold Renier

Merritt Island

Joseph (Joe) Harold Renier, 86, of Merritt Island, FL, peacefully passed away in his home surrounded by his family on November 25th at 7:11pm.

Born in Green Bay, WI on May 30, 1929 and at 16 he joined the US Army Air Corps and subsequently received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from NC State College. Joe worked at the Kennedy Space Center for 25 years, primarily for Rockwell International, and hobbies included travel, computers, and amateur (HAM) radio.

Joe is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nina, and his sons Mark and wife Gitte, Hans and wife Toni, Van and fiancée Adrienne. He was also the proud grandfather to Alex and Carla.

The Renier family will hold a memorial service to receive friends on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 2:00pm at the Cocoa Beach Community Church at 126 S Atlantic Ave, Cocoa Beach, FL.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Brevard Alzheimer’s Foundation or Hospice of Brevard (Vitas). –

My husband was an Army Veteran and they draped him with the American Flag as they were removing him from VITAS Hospice. We just had a wonderful experience at Island cremation with my father-in-law’s funeral. We had three meetings before the ceremony even started to make sure that everything was going to be done properly and that we’re all on the same page. Island cremation arranged for the Marines to come and do a flag honor ceremony that was an excellent touch and made the whole ceremony very memorable. The funeral home was very clean and they even had masks and hand sanitizer set out. They helped setting up our food plus supplied some of their own. Very professional and highly recommended.

I had a Celebration of Life for my husband on his birthday last Friday.

Island Cremations helped me plan for the Funeral. They have been like family. I even brought my husband’s miniature poodle.

Dillon, Mike & Dawn helped me set up and clean up. We brought in food and drinks. I had a soft jazz CD playing in the rooms. The alter had my husband’s Dolphin Urn and flowers. His picture with him holding a 52 pound Dolphin was on a projector screen above the alter.

Pastor Babington did a wonderful sermon. The family & friends spoke of memorial times.

We all thank you for your kindness and warmth for this Celebration of Life for my husband.
