Jonathan D. Lequear Melbourne, FL Jonathan David Lequear, 54, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 10, 2014 at William Childs Hospice House. Jonathan was born on November 25, 1959 in Orlando, FL. He moved to the Space Coast after graduating high school where he earned his A.A. at Brevard Community College, then spent a year in Colorado attending a Solar Engineering School. He returned to Melbourne where he owned Indian River Landscaping, designing landscapes and installing entryways for new subdivisions until he became seriously ill with pulmonary fibrosis in 1995. Jonathan’s illness dictated a lung replacement so while waiting for his transplant, he completed his degree in education from Rollins College. He received his transplant in February 1996 and went on to become an elementary school teacher. He taught for 20 years, primarily at University Park in Melbourne. Jonathan fulfilled this true calling as a gifted and loving educator  who made a difference in the lives of hundreds of children with his dedication and understanding.

Jonathan loved all of God’s creations. He was drawn to the ocean and enjoyed surfing. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, all of Florida’s wildlife, watching beautiful sunrises, the moon and Florida’s frequent lightning shows. He was happiest, however, surrounded by his family and friends. He often displayed a quick sense of humor that made him a witty and practical joker.

Jonathan was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Henry K. Lequear and Joann Lequear, his sisters, Robin Haug, Joy Still, Jill Robb and brother, Craig Lequear. He is survived by his brother, Scott Lequear, many nieces, nephews, and by Tammy Lequear, his wife of 23 years. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 23rd at 2 p.m. at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 106 N. Riverside Drive, Indialantic. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that you consider the gift of becoming an organ donor in Jonathan’s name, through ‘Donate Life America’ at DonateLife.net.
