On Saturday, August 27, 2022, John Diamond Jr., loving husband and father of two, passed away peacefully at the age of 46.
John was born on July 9, 1976 in Torrance, California to his father John Diamond Sr. and his mother, Mary Diamond. He grew up in Ocean City, NJ till the age of 11, when his family moved to Michigan. John was an active child who loved being outdoors, loved playing soccer and ran cross country in high school.
He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Michigan State University, and his MBA from Cleary University. He pursued several roles throughout his career, ultimately ending his career as a successful CFO and Partner of Synect Media.
John married his high school friend and soulmate, Gen Diamond on February 25th, 2010. They have two beautiful children, Johnny (11) and Kennedy (10): together they are his greatest legacy. They will keep his zest of life, fantastic sense of humor, as well as his deep love and devotion for his friends and family alive.
John was always a family man and prioritized his family above everything else in his life. John was a loving husband, doting father, loyal friend, trusted partner, avid fisher, longtime Phishhead, and die-hard Spartans fan. He was generous, kind, smart, and always made us laugh. John had a passion for being on the water, whether it was to fish, cruise, or meet-up at the sandbar. He simply loved being outdoors and listening to music. He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit. While cancer sadly cut his physical life on earth way too short, John’s light continues to shine in everyone he touched.
He is survived by his wife Gen, his two children, Johnny and Kennedy, his parents, John Sr., and his mother, Mary, his siblings Chrissy Kalogris (John Kalogris), Billy, Mary Kathryn, and Sara, and many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He will be deeply missed by his co-workers and friends.
John wrote a letter to each of his kids. Here is an excerpt: “I realize now how important a sound and real relationship with God is. Through the cancer journey, God had propped me up and helped me deal with a slew of emotions and thoughts. You will need that in your life! Please go to church and foster a real relationship with the Man upstairs.”
