John Clarke Carter (JC) passed away peacefully on August 26, 2022 with his caring wife, Susie at his side. JC was born in Salina, KS in 1935 to parents John R. and Geraldine Carter. His brother Tom, who was married to Vicki Carter, predeceased him leaving one surviving sister, Jerry Ann Carter.

In the fall of 1957, JC joined the Air Force and was honorably discharged after 4 years of service. From there he pursued his Bachelor’s Degree in Business on the GI Bill. JC was proud to be the 1st generation in his family to earn a college degree. He began his career as an employee with IBM but, being an entrepreneur at heart, it wasn’t long before JC launched his own company named South Eastern Copiers which he successfully ran and thoroughly enjoyed for decades.

JC is survived by his wife Susan T. Carter (Susie) of 41 years and his 6 adult children: Kimberly Thrasher and her late husband Mike of Atlanta, GA; Kelly Evans and her husband Tim of Arvada, CO; John Carter of Satellite Beach, FL; Eric Carter and his wife Mel of Columbus, GA; Tracey Prospero and her husband Rick of Satellite Beach, FL and Kim and Ron Pizatella of Cocoa Beach, FL and his niece, Valerie Carter and her husband Guy of Houston, TX.

Long before texting became popular, JC coined the term “YMF” translated to mean “Your My Favorite” which he would say to each of his 18 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Indeed, they were all his favorite!

JC will be greatly missed by his family and friends and will always be remembered for his sense of humor, his giving spirit and his numerous phone calls that kept him connected to his large family.

Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, September 16th at 9am at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, FL which is located at 5525 US-1, Mims, FL 32754.

In memory of JC, the family requests that those who knew him will consider becoming an organ donor and encourage others to do likewise. JC was the very fortunate recipient of a life-giving organ donation gifting him with an additional 25+ years of life, hope and love. Any adult age 18 years or older can register to be an organ, eye and tissue donor by registering in the National Donate Life Registry at RegisterMe.org.
