James Lee “Jim” Feucht, beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2024, at the age of 70 in Satellite Beach, Florida. Born on March 28, 1953, in Columbus, Ohio, Jim was the son of Wilbur and Ruth Feucht. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Coral Derenthal. Jim was a loving father and grandfather, known for his deep affection for his grandkids and granddogs.
Jim will be remembered for his remarkable athletic achievements. During his time at Groveport-Madison High School, Jim set incredible records as a defensive tackle and heavyweight wrestler from 1968 to 1971. His exceptional talent and dedication earned him a full scholarship to Miami University, where he played football as a defensive tackle, wearing the number 74. In 1973, Jim was named the Mid-American Conference’s defensive player of the week in a victory over Bowling Green, showcasing his outstanding skills on the field. He remained close to his teammates and coaches, cherishing the bonds formed during his football career.
After a knee injury forced him to retire from football, Jim transitioned into a successful career in sales. He went on to purchase and lead the Mack Truck Dealership on Pittsburgh’s Northside as CEO for over a decade. Jim’s leadership and business acumen were greatly admired by his colleagues and employees.
Upon retirement, Jim relocated to Florida and became a passionate advocate for rescue dogs, particularly Weimaraners. His love and dedication to these animals were evident in his tireless efforts to find them loving homes and provide them with a second chance at life.
Jim will be deeply missed by his devoted spouse, Valerie Geffel, and his children, James Feucht (Chrissy Feucht), Joseph Feucht (Cayla, Elsa, and Lily Feucht), Jordan Feucht Magovern (George, Elizabeth, George IV Magovern), and Jules Gallagher (Tim, William, and Emma Gallagher). He also leaves behind his sister, Rosie Ball, and brothers, Bill Feucht and Chris Feucht, as well as numerous other extended family members and friends whose lives he touched.
A private memorial service will be held to celebrate Jim’s life and honor his many accomplishments. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to a local animal rescue organization in Jim’s memory.
