A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2016, 11am, at Saint Andrew United Methodist Church, 3380 Dairy Road, Titusville, Florida 32796. A private scattering of ashes will be held in the near future over the water he loved so much to sail in.

James Albert LaCoy,77, a native of Binghamton, New York, passed away Thursday May 5, 2016 at home in Cape Canaveral, Florida. Jim was born on August 13, 1938 to the late Harry A. LaCoy and Lucille Hutchinson.
Jim retired in 2005 after teaching Auto Mechanics and Special Education Students at Astronaut High School in Titusville, Florida for more than 20 years.
Previous to his teaching years, he owned All-Car Tire and Service in Titusville. Before moving to Florida in 1978, he was a district manager for SAAB SCANIA, Volvo and Mazda Motors out of NJ. He also taught Auto Mechanics at BOCES, of Johnson City, NY (Board of Co-Operative Educational Services). He worked as a mechanic in several local Binghamton dealerships. He helped establish a drag race strip at the airport in Endwell, NY.
Jim was a member of Saint Andrew United Methodist Church in Titusville.
His biggest contribution to life was instilling a purpose and incentive to his students upon completion of three years participation in the Great American Race across our vast country in their restored 1930 Model A Speedster.
He is preceded in death by his son, Harry LaCoy. Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Alice (Osterberg) LaCoy; Daughters, Michelle LaCoy and Tamara Brown of Waxhaw, NC; Step-daughter Danielle Zeiler of Merritt Island, FL; sister, Jacqueline Del Buono of Hendersonville, NC, 4 grandchildren, Michael Miller, Maria Rodriguez, Roberto Rodriguez, and Carley Brown, 2 Step-grandchildren, Pierce and Harper Zeiler, and 4 great-grandchildren, Nadya, Connor, Riley, and Harlan.
