A celebration of Geri‘s life will take place Friday June 21, 2024 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with viewing from 11:00 to 12:00. Mass to follow at 12:00 noon. A celebration of life will be held at Rockledge Country Club beginning at 1:30.

Geri Shaw passed away Thursday, June 13, 2024 due to complications of the cancer she was courageously fighting. She is survived by her children, Nicki and Asa; their father, Mike Shaw; her mother, Loretta Spalding; her sister, Rose (Rob) Oudejans; her brothers Tom (Renee) Spalding and Mark (Karen) Spalding; and countless more family and friends. She was proceeded in death by her father, Joseph Spalding and her sister, Tina (David) Richter.

Born in Aurora, IL, Geri grew up in Rockledge, FL enjoying the Indian River with her siblings and friends. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic School, Rockledge High School, Brevard Community College, and University of Central Florida, where she earned her Bachelor degree in nursing. She was an outstanding psychiatric nurse of 35 years. She was an amazing listener, always fair-minded and objective. Geri was a devoted mother, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and more. She will be remembered for her kindness, her resilience, and most of all, her quick sense of humor.

I dealt with Paul the owner he was very helpful. He assisted in the forms and contacted a few people to help with my fathers passing. They are all very compassionate and caring. It is a nice atmosphere and very professional in how they run the business. They did not try to push me towards anything or any package. My husband was an Army Veteran and they draped him with the American Flag as they were removing him from VITAS Hospice. We just had a wonderful experience at Island cremation with my father-in-law’s funeral. We had three meetings before the ceremony even started to make sure that everything was going to be done properly and that we’re all on the same page. Island cremation arranged for the Marines to come and do a flag honor ceremony that was an excellent touch and made the whole ceremony very memorable. The funeral home was very clean and they even had masks and hand sanitizer set out. They helped setting up our food plus supplied some of their own. Very professional and highly recommended.

I had a Celebration of Life for my husband on his birthday last Friday.

Island Cremations helped me plan for the Funeral. They have been like family. I even brought my husband’s miniature poodle.

Dillon, Mike & Dawn helped me set up and clean up. We brought in food and drinks. I had a soft jazz CD playing in the rooms. The alter had my husband’s Dolphin Urn and flowers. His picture with him holding a 52 pound Dolphin was on a projector screen above the alter.

Pastor Babington did a wonderful sermon. The family & friends spoke of memorial times.

We all thank you for your kindness and warmth for this Celebration of Life for my husband.
