GARLAND RAY AMOS
January 14, 1948 – October 26, 2023

Garland “Ray” Amos, 75, of Cocoa, Florida, passed away on October 26, 2023. He was born on January 14, 1948, in Buckingham County, Virginia, one of seventeen children, to Willie and Hallie Melissa Amos.

At the young age of 17, he enlisted to serve in the U.S. Army and served multiple tours in Vietnam. He received many awards including being a Bronze Star recipient throughout his years of service. One of his most cherished awards was the Vietnam Service Medal, bearing five bronze stars, representing his participation and active service in various campaigns while serving his country proudly.

He previously was employed by the United States Treasury. Thereafter, he enjoyed many, many years working for Florida Power & Light Company as a boilermaker.

Mr. Amos was a Master Mason since June of 1974, and an active member of Mount Scott Masonic Lodge No. 540 in Lawton, Oklahoma. He enjoyed music and playing musical instruments, often remembered for playing his guitar. When the weather was cooperating, you could find him riding his motorcycle.

Mr. Amos is survived by the love of his life, his fiancé of three years, Kathy Odom of Cocoa, Florida, his brother Robert Amos (Judy) of Cocoa, Florida and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased in death by his parents, Willie and Hallie Melissa Amos, and fifteen siblings, Willie, II “Junior”, Doug, Louise, Gertrude, Hazel, Alice, Howard, Ruby, James, Mary, John, Shirley, Grace, Betty Jean, and Buddy.
