Doreen Davies

August 26, 1940 – August 14, 2019

Doreen was born in Mansfield Woodhouse, Nottingham, England on August 26th, 1940. She was the only child of Edgar and Doris Gunton. It was the war years, and she often recounted that she never saw an orange or banana until she was seven years old!

Doreen “gave her heart to Jesus” (her own words) when she was eight years old and started teaching in children’s church when she was just 13. She studied shorthand and typing, and worked as a private secretary to the manager of Pleasley Vale Mills, until she married.

Howard and Doreen married on the September 9, 1967. They would have been married 52 years in just a couple of weeks. They have been blessed with two children, Timothy and Abigail, and five precious grandchildren: Daniel, Hannah, Joseph, Elisha and Anna. Howard and Doreen were called by the Lord to Central Florida in 1998, after Howard had served for 10 years as senior pastor of a small church fellowship in England.

Doreen was a much-loved wife, mother, and grandmother. She was friend to so many and spread the love of Christ, and sunshine and smiles wherever she went.

She passed away peacefully into the presence of her Lord Jesus on Wednesday the 14th of August, at Cape Canaveral Hospital in the care of Hospice of Health First.

Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord.” Matthew 25:21
