Domenick “Donny” DePalma passed away peacefully on October 31, 2024, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest.

Domenick was born on June 26, 1938 in Newark, New Jersey. His parents and four brothers moved to Morris County, NJ where he attended and graduated from Boonton High School in 1955.

Domenick enlisted in the U.S. Army where he became a Paratrooper, served with the 101st Airborne Division, earned the rank of Sergeant and continued his service as a reservist until 1963. While still serving his country, he went to work as a Bricklayer. He joined the Bricklayers Union, Local #4, in 1961 where he remained a member for 63 years. He was a lifetime member.

In November of 1958 Domenick married Elinor Rawlings and had four sons. While living and working in New Jersey he also joined the Mt. Tabor Volunteer Fire Department and served as Fire Chief from 1969-1971.

Domenick, Eleanor and their 4 sons relocated to South Florida in 1977 where he started his own concrete, masonry and construction business. The latter part of his career he worked as a Superintendent, first with Wright Construction building Target stores in the Southeast and finishing his career with Kraft Construction completing many school board projects in Lee and Collier Counties.

After 46 years of marriage, and after Eleanor’s death, he married Sumaleee Kongson in 2007, whom he was married to for 17 years.

He is preceded in death by his mother Jennie DePalma, father Emanuel ”Rocco” DePalma, mother Margaret DePalma, and his brothers Peter Allan DePalma and Pascal DePalma. He is survived by his loving wife, Sumalee DePalma; brother Michael DePalma; brother Richard DePalma and his wife, Suzie DePalma; sister-in-law, Vincenzina DePalma; son Michael DePalma and his wife, Mary DePalma and their four children, Gianna Ostrowsky and her husband, Ryan Ostrowsky, Joseph DePalma, Gabriela DePalma and Michael DePalma; son Christopher DePalma, and his wife, Diane DePalma and their two sons Nicholas DePalma and Zachary DePalma; son Matthew DePalma; son Jonathan DePalma; great-grandchildren Ryan Ostrowsky Jr. and Liliana Ostrowsky.

He was surrounded by family and friends during his remaining few days and died peacefully surrounded by his family. He will be missed and forever remain in our hearts.
