On Sunday, October 2, 2022, Daniel (Danny) Capuano, loving husband of Lynne (Meyer) Capuano, passed away after a long illness. On November 1, 1950, Danny was born in Paterson, N.J. but grew up in nearby, Totowa where he attended Totowa Public Schools. Danny graduated from Passaic Valley Regional High School Class of 1968. In 1969, Danny enlisted in the United States Navy and was sent for basic training at the Naval Station Great Lakes, North Chicago, Illinois. During his time in service to our country, Danny was awarded The National Defense Service Medal.
After serving in the Navy, Danny spent much of his career in sales, owning hair salons, and traveling throughout the country. In 1989, Danny became a certified gemologist and a long-time business partner at Bentley Diamond, Wall township, N.J. It was at Bentley Diamond that Danny, with his wife Lynne and his partner, Kaz Bagheri, had the interest and opportunity to become major supporters of The Compassionate Friends Children’s Memorial Garden, located in Riverwood Park, Toms River, New Jersey. The memorial garden was created for families and friends whose children passed away before they became adults. In 2008 Danny and Lynne decided to make Florida their new home.
Danny loved to travel, dine, and gather and was best known for his quick -witted humor, fierce determination, and generous spirit. He loved to make people laugh and even in his final days, was telling jokes to his brothers rather than thinking about what was to come. His fierce determination was what got him through many months of treatments and clinical trials. He never gave up the fight. Danny traveled and with Lynne as his “travel agent”. They explored not only the United States but also Europe and many interesting places. But, most of all, he loved his family and extended family. Danny, “Cappy,” welcomed grandchildren: Daniel Capuano, Isaac Capuano, Skyler Hilley and Cait Hilley. Cappy enjoyed his grandchildren, and they will always remember the love and humor he shared with them.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Antoinetta Iozzia and Edward Capuano Sr. and his loving brother, Edward Capuano.
Danny is survived by his wife and best friend, Lynne Meyer Capuano, his son Daniel and his daughter-in-law, Julie, Cocoa Beach, Fl, his son James Capuano and his daughter-in-law Nathalie from Barnegat, N.J., Carolyn Capuano, the mother of Daniel and James, Cocoa Beach, Fl. Danny is also survived by his brothers and sister-in laws: Guy Capuano and his wife, Linda, Manchester, N.J.; Clifford Capuano and his wife, Wendie, Edgefield, S.C.; his sister-in-law, Carol Capuano, Carlstadt, N.J.; his brother-in-law Kurt Meyer, Merritt Island, FL and sister-in-law Karla Lessig, Landing, N.J. and his many nieces and nephews who loved Uncle Danny.
Danny felt the love of so many people. Danny believed that he had a wonderful life and as the song goes “I did it my way” is just how he went through life!
“How great is your love, O Father that you
have lavished on me, that I should be called your child –and I am!” (I John 3:1)
