I was very sorry to hear of Chuck's death. My condolences to his partner Rob. Chuck and I were colleagues in Ceramic Engineering at Ohio State for twelve years. My wife, Suzann, and I always enjoyed his gourmet dinners. Chuck had the academic position figured out: he taught for nine months and then traveled in Europe for three! When traveling at Ceramic Society meetings you could always count on him to find the best places to eat and find music. He will be missed. Sorry to learn about Dr. Drummond's (Chuck's) passing. Enjoyed his classes (he did have the more exciting classes offered in the department...glass science versus refractories, phase diagrams, and pre WWII piezo-electronics.). Glad was able to spend a Saturday morning for brunch with him & Rob in Columbus on 11/14/2009 before the Buckeye's OT victory over those pesky Hawkeyes which clinched advancing to the Rose Bowl (another thrilling victory over the Ducks on News Years Day 2010. Enjoyed his annual Christmas cards since 1980 which highlighted his & Rob's annual European travels. Regret not being able to discuss the glass windows/Cathedrals I was able to visit on different visits to Europe including Cologne Cathedral, St. Vitrus Cathedral in Prague, and St. Chapelle in Paris.

We have known Chuck and Rob for years. We are all lovers of travel. We have enjoyed so many dinners and conversations on travel and life in general. We will miss Chuck and these very meaningful get togethers and are saying many prayers for Rob and the Drummond family.

I was privileged many years ago to welcome Chuck as a new member of First Congregational Church in Columbus. He was a faithful church member, a fine person and an outstanding scholar and teacher. He will be missed by family members and friends.

Designed by Gabriel Loire, built by Jacque Lorie Vitraux, Chartres, France, 1984 Photo: Peter John Gates; London, England (1989) The Angel of the Resurrection is represented by the diamond shape. Suffering and death are represented by red blotches. A beam of light goes straight up indicating the infinite in the mysterious atsosphere of a starry sky. The sun is a symbol of joy and truth and light. The Alpha - The Resurrected Christ is everlasting and the beginning of true life where all creation is reborn. The internationally renowned French stained glass artist Gabriel Loire (1904-1996) of Chartres, took his inspiration from the book of Revelation.
