Our loving mother Carmen Maria Santiago Lopez, 81 of Lakeland, FL passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 20, 2024. Most recently predeceased by her youngest daughter Jacqueline Santiago, and survived by three daughters, Marjorie Rivera, Maribel Murphy and Evette Santiago, her brother Julio Santiago Lopez, eight grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
Carmen was a strong-willed independent woman with Christian values. A devoted mother and grandmother who always worried about the welfare of her family. She dedicated her life to her children/grandchildren, always there with a listening ear and heartfelt advice.
She was born on April 9th in Puerto Rico, but the cooler weather of New York City where she raised her children always held a special place in her heart long after she had moved to Florida.
She enjoyed going to the casino, traveling on short getaways, and sampling new cuisines. Best described as a Foodie who liked to cook but enjoyed eating even more! Ice Cream and Coffee were her favorites, any flavor anytime! She knew Ice Cream was not good for her diabetes and we will miss her mischievous laugh as she enjoyed it.
Mami/Wella, had a distinct relationship with each of her daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren this came with unique pet names that we will always treasure. Not much more to say about this special woman other than we will miss you dearly Mom.

Her final resting place will be at the Oak Hill Burial Park in Lakeland Florida alongside her daughter Jackie.
