Carl E Cox, a God loving husband, the pillar of a Father & a Papa whose loving eyes twinkled when he smiled, sadly & unexpectedly left those who love him dearly in the early hours of Christmas morning, December 25, 2024.

Carl was the youngest child of five, born on April 5,1945 in Riverside, CA to Joe & Flossie Cox who has both preceded him in death. He completed their family of seven that included the oldest child, and his only sister, Nina (Dale) Smith. His older brothers are Richard (Connie) Cox, Kenneth (Janice) Cox & Willard (Jeanette) Cox. Carl was preceded in death by his sister Nina, brother-in-law Dale and brother Willard.

Carl met the love of his life, Lynne (Stout) Cox, who preceded him in death on August 5, 2023, and secretly swept her away to Mexico to marry on November 3, 1963. When his new Mother-in-law found out, she requested a new ceremony with family in attendance to announce their vows and devotion to one another. On November 12,1963 they began the 59 years of their love story together.

Their beautiful legacy began in California when Carl became a proud Father in 1964 to their first child, a beautiful daughter named Shelly (Cox) Henley. The blessings continued in 1965 with the birth of Carl’s bouncy baby boy, Carl Brook Cox.
Carl was truly a pillar of a role model not only in being a loving and supportive Dad, but he allowed his walk with the Lord to lead the way for him to be the example of a loving and devoted husband. His example gave Shelly the knowledge of what she deserved and Brook the role model of what he needed to be. Carl was blessed with Duane Henley as a son-in-law and Theresa (Reed) Cox as a daughter-in-law.
Carl’s legacy was extended with the title of Papa to 5 grandchildren. Shelly blessed him with 2 grandsons, Jeremy (Jenn) Henley & Matthew (Itzel) Henley as well as a granddaughter, Nikki (Jacob) Charles. Brook blessed him with his third grandson, Christopher Brook Cox who sadly has preceded him in death in 2020 and his second granddaughter, Amanda (Kristina) Cox. Carl’s title and legacy grew with 8 great grandchildren. He also had the wonderful title of Uncle to many nieces & nephews as well as great nieces & nephews. The title Papa Carl was also given by the extended children of the bonus family he gained and always treated them like his own grandchildren.

Carl was a God Loving man and was a dedicated Christian in his roles as a Husband, Father & Papa. He spent a great deal of his time here on earth reading and listening to the Word of God and enjoyed listening to his favorite Gospel Music. Carl was no stranger to those in need and would often offer a verse of hope when needed. He & his beloved wife, Lynne often opened their home for special Sabbath dinners and Bible Studies. He was always the “Go to Guy” to lead in prayers whether it was for meals, special occasions or for those in need of spiritual up lifting.
Carl’s love for the Lord was obvious by the tender way he spoke, listened and treated those who were blessed enough to be in his presence. His smile brightened up any room and his gentle kindness was truly a genuine gift that was felt by those who love him.

Carl’s employment history was as dignified as his personal life with holding positions that included Glendale Adventist Medical Center in California, as well as Rockwell and Lockheed to mention a few.

Carl began his golden years and retired from Robins Air Force Base in Georgia. After retiring, Carl & Lynne moved to Florida in 2015 to enjoy retirement living close to their son, Brook and Theresa and their family. His downtime since the passing of his beloved wife was enjoying the ride out to the beach to eat at their favorite restaurant. As well as coffee in the morning with Brook at his desk or just enjoying the view of the lake from the back porch while watching TV and loving on their fur baby, Chloe.

Carl was a blessing to all who knew and love him. His kindhearted soul and kindness was truly a reflection of his dedicated walk with the Lord. His heart was full of the love we all should be inspired to give. Carl is and will continue to be missed tremendously… until the trumpet is heard and we are together again!
