Brian Joseph Lynch, 76, beloved son, father, brother, husband, and friend, died on Dec. 27, 2023, surrounded by family and his good friend Steve Shapiro, following a short illness, in Melbourne Beach, Florida.

Born in 1947 at the Margaret Hague hospital in Jersey City, N.J., to Matthew Lester and Kathryn E. McCarron Lynch, he was the fourth child of six.

Raised in Jersey City, he spent many adventurous summers in Manasquan, N.J., and later settled in Toms River, N.J., with his wife, Lynn Fitzsimmons, his college sweetheart, and their children Shannon and Christopher. The family moved to Florida and following Lynn’s passing in 2007, Brian found love again with his wife, Alba Gaviria.

Brian was a graduate of St. Benedict’s Prep, the Peddie School and Fairleigh Dickinson University. He spent his life serving others, including ensuring compassionate and dignified assistance for those with illness or facing challenging life circumstances. He was a Social Worker in both Hudson County and Monmouth County N.J After moving to Florida, he served as Administrator at a number of nursing homes, demonstrating respect and compassion to the residents and families. Having faced many challenges in his own life, Brian accepted people for who they were and touched many lives in a positive way. He loved his children Chris and Shannon profoundly, and made sure they had joy in their lives. He was a fiercely loyal family member and friend. Brian loved the sea, and was a dual citizen of America and Ireland, his second home. He loved Bruce Springsteen, Jimmy Buffet, and all genres of Irish music. He was a gifted baseball player and a dedicated Philadelphia Eagles, Notre Dame, and FSU football fan.

In addition to his wife and children, Brian is survived by his siblings Matthew Lynch (Rose), Edmund Lynch (Aud), Robert Lynch (Kathy), Larry Lynch (Anne), and Mary Kay Lynch; nephews and nieces, Anders Lynch (Olha), Nicole Lynch (Patrick), Liam Lynch (Kristine), Tim and Sean Lynch, and 7 great nieces and nephews. Brian had a heart of gold and his family and friends miss him terribly.
