DOYLE MARON SELPH

Doyle M. Selph, 67,  passed away on February 12, 2013 at the Courtenay Springs Vitas Hospice. He was a native of Okeechobee and graduated from Okeechobee High School. Doyle served his country as a member of the 97th Army Band in 1966-67.  After being discharged he toured with a show group playing trumpet and flugelhorn for five years prior to returning to Florida and making Merritt Island his home. He was a member of many successful bands in the area and was always welcomed at the local jazz clubs where he sat in with famous jazz musicians.

Doyle was preceded in death by his parents S. Wilson and Lois C. Selph.  He is survived by brother Fred and partner Ken Prentice, of Black Mountain, NC.

Brother Floyd and wife Shirley of Okeechobee, FL. One niece, two nephews, three great nieces and one great nephew.

At the family’s request funeral arrangements will be private.  Contributions in Doyle’s memory may be made to Vitas of Brevard, 4450 West Eau Gallie Blvd., Suite 250, Melbourne, FL 32934 or to Cancer Research or to the charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the direction and care of Island Cremations & Funeral Home, Merritt Island.
