Thomas Edward Weber, 81, long time resident of Merritt Island, passed away peacefully May 21, 2022 with his wife and children by his side. He was born June 16, 1940, in Louisville, Kentucky, the first child of Jane and Daniel Weber. The Weber family moved to the Space Coast when he was 16. Tom was the first in his family to graduate college, earning an Associate in Engineering in 1964 from the Florida Institute of Technology (then known as Brevard Engineering College).
Tom started at General Dynamics (Convair) in the early 1960s, and retired from the company in 2001. He fully enjoyed the excitement, problem-solving and teamwork of his career and felt very fortunate to be part of the Atlas-Centaur team. The team launched several NASA planetary probes, including Mariner, Surveyor and Pioneer.
Tom is survived by his wife of 34 years, Harriett Weber, his children Wendy Harrison (Peter Elwell) of Brattleboro, VT, Kimberly Harrison of Los Angeles, CA, Scott Weber (Leannah) of Nashville, TN and Kim Capman (Shawn) of Deland, FL; and his sister Diana Hammer of Merritt Island and one niece Stacy Hammer Boote (David). He leaves 8 grandchildren to cherish his memory and continue his love for life and learning.
