John (Johnny) Harold Jensen, born October 25, 1971, passed away peacefully at his home on May 30, 2026, after a courageous three-year battle with cancer. He was 54.
Johnny grew up in Woodbury, Minnesota, and spent the last 37 years living in Melbourne, Florida. Young in age and young at heart, he was fun, funny, sweet, smart, silly, adorable, and above all lovable — always with a signature twinkle in his eye. His sweetness and his cynicism were an unlikely pair, but together they were entirely, irresistibly him — and everyone who knew him adored him.
He had a passion for music — playing guitar and singing in several rock bands, writing original songs, and making music videos alongside bandmates who became brothers. He worked many jobs over the years, but his favorite was at a local marina. There, boaters who became friends were treated to his famous Johnny 5 Chicken, the music playing from his utility cart, and his after-work acoustic sessions around the BBQ where he made everyone feel welcome. Johnny could make any place feel like a celebration and any stranger feel like a friend.
Over the last three years, Johnny was in and out of hospitals, enduring surgeries, infections, pain, and uncertainty. He wasn’t happy about the hand he’d been dealt — but he never complained. He faced every hardship with quiet resilience and strength. To witness his courage was the greatest privilege of our lives.
Everyone who knew him — who called him friend, family, or brother — knew how fortunate they were. He was special — there was simply no one else like him. He went out of his way to make everyone around him feel special, too. He is survived by his father, Tom Jensen; his mother, Carol Lee Wilkerson; his sisters, Joy Richard and Holly Jensen; his nephew and niece, John Richard and Bridget Richard; Holly’s partner, Patrick Seemann; his stepmother, Carol Jensen; his stepfather, John Wilkerson; his stepsiblings, Dan Philpot; Angela DeBernardo and her husband Rob; Rex Philpot and his wife Yvonne; David Wilkerson; and Amber Enright; and his beloved kitty, Dirt Ball.
Johnny had a habit of leaving every gathering, every holiday, every party long before anyone was ready for him to go — always leaving us wanting more. And in true Johnny form, he left this world the same way. It was too soon, we weren’t ready, and we will always want more.
He was deeply loved, he will be deeply missed, and we will never be the same.
