In Loving Memory of Diane Michelle Sturgeon
Diane Sturgeon was born Diane Michelle Nation in 1961. She was baptized into the Catholic faith and she made her first communion in 1968. She grew up in the 1960’s and 1970’s, a time of great turmoil and great music in our country. Diane loved to talk about music, and all the rock concerts she attended, the first being an Alice Cooper concert when she was 13. She loved everything from the rock group Kiss to the heavy metal band Metallica.
Another one of Diane’s passions was cooking and baking, especially eastern European cuisine. She watched the cooking shows, collected recipes, and tried out as many of them as she could. However, exotic dishes aside, nobody in this world could beat Diane’s old-fashioned meatloaf.
After high school Diane became a medical biller and she was very proud of being very good at her job. She worked first at Harper Grace Hospital in Detroit, and then at medical groups in San Jose, California and latter back in the Detroit area. Sixteen years ago, in 2001, Diane married the love of her life, Raymond Sturgeon. Even though she was technically their step-mother, Diane became “Mom” to Raymond’s girls and grandma to their grandchildren, Devin, Hailee, Kylie, and Lilly. Raymond and Diane faced life’s challenges together with unwavering devotion to each other. In the most recent years as Diane’s health declined, Raymond never left her side.
Diane is survived by her husband, Raymond Sturgeon, their kids – Jillian, Rebecca, and Lauren – and grandchildren – Devin, Hailee, Kylie, and Lily, her mother and step-dad – Lois and Jim Burke, her sisters – Linda Musser, Donna Jamison, and Maria Burke, her brother – Rick Jamison, her sister-in-law and best friend – Charlotte Sturgeon Cavin, along with many aunts, cousins, and friends. And let’s not forget her four-legged baby, Harley, who also misses her.
Diane loved everyone in her life and never parted company without telling her loved ones, “I love you.” Diane will be deeply missed until we all see her again not too far down the road. Until then, she is at peace in the loving arms of our Lord and Savior.
