Carlos “Corky” Drake, 79, of Cocoa Beach, passed away peacefully at home on December 20, 2023, on his birthday. He was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas, to Pauline and Franklin Drake. He is survived by his sister Judy Pickering and his three sons, Dion, Monty, and Chad Drake. He is reunited in spirit with his parents and his brother, Randy Key.
Corky was a man known for his unwavering willingness to help others. A cherished son, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend, and mentor, he epitomized a life teacher, imparting invaluable lessons of responsibility, respect, and the simple joys of life. He nurtured not only his own children but also numerous others, leaving a lasting impact on many lives.
A driven “Go-getter” His list of accomplishments was extensive, ranging from being a jewelry artist to a hairstylist, and encompassing everything before, after, and in-between. An enthusiastic collector, Corky pursued various passions, leaving a trail of diverse experiences that reflected his unbounded curiosity and zest for life.” In his later years, he cherished solitude, enjoying the serene tranquility of metal detecting on the beach, reveling in Key West parties, and soaking up all the knowledge possible, and simply just relaxing on his front porch surrounded by beautiful wind chimes.
Corky was adored by many, understood by a select few, yet universally respected by all who crossed paths with him. His legacy will endure through the memories etched in the minds of those fortunate enough to have known him.
