William Thomas Manley, 79, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 29, 2014 in Cocoa, FL. Born in Chicago, IL, Bill was an Army veteran like his father. He had a tender heart for animals, and a passion for music, dancing, and the Miami Dolphins. His greatest love was barbershop music, and he was part of the Southern Knights Quartet with his buddies Don, Russ and Larry; the Space Coast Chorus; and the Harbor City Harmonizers. He will be remembered for his outgoing, friendly personality and great sense of humor.

Bill is survived by his children Kathleen Manley Short, Thomas Frank Manley and Patti Manley Brown; his grandchildren Jessica Manley, Jennifer and Jamie Short, Shaun Compton and Kyle Brown; his great-grandsons Bradley Compton and Leon Thomas; and his sister Janis Manley Miller.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, November 5th, 9:00 a.m. at Island Cremations (405 N. Courtenay Pkwy, Merritt Island, FL 321-454-3331).

Bill will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.

My husband was an Army Veteran and they draped him with the American Flag as they were removing him from VITAS Hospice. We had three meetings before the ceremony even started to make sure that everything was going to be done properly and that we’re all on the same page. Island cremation arranged for the Marines to come and do a flag honor ceremony that was an excellent touch and made the whole ceremony very memorable. The funeral home was very clean and they even had masks and hand sanitizer set out. They helped setting up our food plus supplied some of their own. Very professional and highly recommended.

I had a Celebration of Life for my husband on his birthday last Friday.

Island Cremations helped me plan for the Funeral. They have been like family. I even brought my husband’s miniature poodle.

Dillon, Mike & Dawn helped me set up and clean up. We brought in food and drinks. I had a soft jazz CD playing in the rooms. The alter had my husband’s Dolphin Urn and flowers. His picture with him holding a 52 pound Dolphin was on a projector screen above the alter.

Pastor Babington did a wonderful sermon. The family & friends spoke of memorial times.

We all thank you for your kindness and warmth for this Celebration of Life for my husband.
