William Robert Bonn, a loving husband and Forever Grateful Dead Head, passed away peacefully in his home on December 1, 2014 at the age of 54. In his youth, he was never far from trouble with his spirited antics. He loved to be surrounded by family and friends, and wanted nothing more than to love and be loved. Bill was well known for being “a character” who loved music festivals, especially at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park, where he would become ONE with the music and dance, dance, dance! Because of that, his Jam Cruise family nick-named him “Dancin’ Bear.” Bill loved live-music and would often be seen at local venues enjoying the sounds and getting to know the musicians. Born on December 25, 1959, he grew up in Long Island, New York. He attended Arizona State University in Tempe where he earned his degree in mechanical engineering. He moved to Florida in 1983 to begin his 27-year career with Harris Corporation as a Quality Engineer. He is survived by his wife Jeanne Bonn and his step-daughter Crystal Davis, his father Robert (Mary Lou) Bonn, his brothers Wayne Bonn and Rich Bonn, his nieces Michelle (Steve) Jamesson and Olivia Bonn, his nephew Chris (Andrea) Bonn, his brother-in-law William Ostertag, his step-daughter from his previous marriage Michelle Khury, his Jam Cruise Family, his Springfest/Magfest/BearCreek Festival buddies, and the countless friends who are grieving the loss of “an amazing soul.” Bill was preceded in death by his mother Betty Bonn, his sister-in-law Melanie Bonn, and his beloved son Michael Bonn.
We are going to have an informal gathering and Celebration of Life for my husband, Bill Bonn, at the house on Saturday, December 6 from 2 – 5 p.m.
