William “Bill” Davis Orr, age 73, resident of Satellite
Beach, Florida and former resident of Idaho Falls, Idaho,
passed peacefully on Friday, July 15, 2022 of natural
causes.
Bill was born the eldest of 5 brothers on December 17,
1947 in Washington, Indiana to Ferdinand Davis Orr and
Rebecca Crawford Orr. Bill met Diane Lynn Cambell in
High School and were married on January 23, 1971. They
would go on to celebrate 51 years of marriage together.
Bill was called upon to raise his younger brothers at the
young age of 20 after the sudden deaths of their parents.
His dedication held the family together and as such, he
was a special figure to many.
Bill honorably served 20 years in the United States Air
Force achieving Senior Master Sergeant and Tower Chief
in Air Traffic Control. He was a war veteran, supporting
plane strikes to the front line of the Vietnam war and
shared many stories of his time in Thailand during the
war. Upon retiring from the air force, he continued his
career in software engineering for another 20 years.
Bill enjoyed many hobbies in his free time and he
particularly enjoyed target shooting with the SEIPS gun
club. He participated in various competitive matches and
he promoted all aspects of the shooting sports.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents and his brother
Robert “Bobby” Orr. He is survived by his wife Diane Orr,
his daughter Kelly Orr, and 3 brothers, Charlie (Pamela)
Orr, Owen Orr, and Lloyd (Aniela) Orr with their children
Anna Orr and Davis Orr.
Services held at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in
Florida with full military honors on December 26, 2023 at
10:00 am.
