An Angel Among Us

The universe shines brighter because a new, brilliant and angelic soul has joined

the parade of stars in the night skies.

Valdeci Dalesandro was granted her angel wings early on the morning of December 26, 2021, after a very short and challenging battle with cancer. Valdeci was 78 years young and shared her heartwarming, joyous spirit and joie de vivre with everyone around her. She enjoyed celebrating holidays and birthdays as these were opportunities for her to make family and friends feel loved and special.

Val treasured her independence and life here in Merritt Island, Florida. She was the unofficial activities director at the Island Village apartment community where she lived. In this unofficial role, she coordinated arts and crafts projects as well as monthly lunch outings for the members of the community. She lived everyday like it was her last and excitedly checked items off of her bucket list, including learning to fly a plane, scuba diving, skydiving, and so much more.

Valdeci was born in Sao Caetano, Brazil on June 12, 1943 to Carlos and Filomena Fostignoni. She lived a humble life always in service of others and gave generously from her virtuous and abundant heart. She gave life to three children, who she cherished more than life itself – Elizabeth (56), Gianfranco (54), and Adrianna (51) and adored her two grandsons – Vincent (30) and Nickolas (19). Val exemplified compassion for all living beings and wholeheartedly loved her children, grandchildren, sisters, and other close family and friends.

To say that Valdeci had talent greatly understates the depth and breadth of her creativity and ingenuity. She loved to paint and enjoyed taking art classes. Val painted images of sunrises, scenic beaches, still life, snowy mountains, portraits and even challenged herself to paint a replica of the Mona Lisa, which proudly hang in her home. Her paintings adorn the homes of family and friends around the world. Val also loved to knit and crochet precious baby clothes and blankets for anyone she knew that was expecting and made so many beautiful hats and scarves for family and friends. Additionally, she enjoyed discovering new arts and crafts to share with those she loved.

Val’s greatest achievement was that of loving mother and grandmother. It was her greatest privilege to shower her children and grandchild with love and kindness. We will miss her sweet voice and kind and loving words when we needed them most. She will forever live in the hearts of everyone she touched.
