Susan (Susie) Duran, 75, passed away peacefully February 11, 2024 at her home in Titusville, Florida surrounded by her beloved family.

She was born to Marcello and Pita Solis in Cheyenne, Wyoming on December 19, 1948. She was the third daughter of seven girls and one boy. She married her “Ricky” on August 19, 1975. She had one daughter, one grandson, and one granddaughter. Susie was preceded in death by her sister Dorothy, father Marcello, mother Pita, and sister Mary. She is survived by husband Ricardo (Ric) Duran, daughter Teresa (Brian) McClelland, grandson Darien (Jacquelyn Ciara) Ullery, and granddaughter Sierra; siblings, Marilyn Solis, Delma (Doug) Hargens, Mollie (Tommy) Cook, Nora Solis Poling, and Ernesto (Bonnie) Solis; niece Lacy (James) Sundahl, and many many more nieces and nephews.

Susie was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Germany 1977. One of the first things she learned was that God has a name as quoted from her King James Bible, “That they may know. That thou, whose name alone is Jehovah, art the Most High over all the earth.” She had never known this and it made sense to her that since her earthly father had a name, Marcello, so too her heavenly father should also have a name. Upon learning this new truth, she had so many more questions like: What happens when we die? What if I’m not good enough to go to heaven, but not bad enough to be in hell? As many questions as she had, she was always impressed that her teacher took her directly to the Bible for answers. Since the Bible is God’s Word then these were God’s answers. Acts 17:10,11- “they accepted the word with the greatest eagerness of mind, carefully examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.” She always invited others to do likewise.

When Susie found out that her illness would ultimately take her life, she sat up in the hospital bed and wrote:

Name S. D.

4 sisters, 1 brother, husband, daughter, son in-law, and grandkids, dearly loved and cherished deeply from the heart for all eternity. Friends old and new are always in my memory ~ smiles.

Romans 14:8 – If we live or die we belong to Jehovah

Revelation 21:1-5 – Death will be no more

Job 14:14,15 – If a man dies, can he live again?….you will call and I will answer

John 5:28,29 – the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out

Susie was thoroughly convinced and felt at peace knowing God’s Kingdom from the Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6:9,10) would soon take place. She encouraged her loved ones by reminding them that Jesus gave us a preview of the resurrection by resurrecting Lazarus. Jesus said, “Laz’arus, come out!” and soon he will say, “Susie, come out!”
