Obituary for Stephen Bergeson
Stephen Lennart Bergeson, age 63, peacefully passed away on December 27, 2021 surrounded in love by his family. Stephen (Steve), was a long-time resident of Merritt Island, Florida. His greatest roles were those of a son, brother, uncle, and loyal friend. He was preceded in death by his father, Lennart, and is survived by his mother, Barbara Bergeson; his sister Laurie and her husband Tom; his brother Philip (Phil) and his wife Leeann. Nieces/nephews and their spouses include: Kristin and husband Paul; Kyle and wife Waverlee; Blake; Kaylin; and Alex and wife Heather. Great nieces and nephews include: Magnolia, Jolee, Evelyn, Axl, Harley, and soon to be Jaxon. He is survived by countless friends. He was loved by all.
Steve attended Merritt Island High School and graduated from Florida State University were he was an Alpha Tau Omega. He graduated from Florida State with a BA in Art. He worked for and later became co-owner of Sunshine Advertising. After leaving Sunshine Advertising, he achieved his dream of owning and living on a houseboat. He lived in St. Marks and became a manager for Dollar General. He continued working for Dollar General when he later moved back to Merritt Island, during which time he helped care for his parents.
Steve loved traveling and visited such places as China, England, Ireland, the Caribbean, Hawaii, as well as many other places in the US. He enjoyed many boating adventures with his best friend, Scott. But Steve never had to go far to find a friend. He enjoyed many a cool beverage with friends at local spots, such as Docs Bait House. They loved him dearly.
Steve will be missed, but it is his sincere love for others that will be remembered. Steve had a heart of gold. His funny stories, antics, and deep conversations will be remembered always.
