Ronald Carol Spears
Born and raised in Meridian, Mississippi on August 21, 1931 during the Great Depression. Ron dreamed of an adventurous
life traveling the globe. And that’s how he lived. He joined the National Guard when he was 14 years old. He spent 1949
and 1950 in the US Army Signal Corps working with radar which launched him into a career in electronics engineering. Ron worked
on the range with RCA, had a short stint in Texas Instruments, then spent the rest of his career with Radiation/Harris.

Ron met his one true love, Mary Storms, in 1956 and they spent their life traveling across the United States and around
the globe. They had three daughters that went with them everywhere…Mary Anne, Linda Carol (deceased) and Nancy Leigh.
They lived in many interesting places from Antigua in the British West Indes to Asmara in Ethiopia to Berlin in
West Germany among others.

Wherever they were, they joined the local Baptist or mission church and enjoyed the fellowship of the Lord’s community.

One of Ron’s many adventures happened in Ethiopia. Ron arranged a flight from Asmara to the Danakil Depression to provide
relief supplies to young missionaries from the Soudan Interior Mission. He and the pilot flew a twin-engine plane
loaded with the supplies and the fuel to get them home, landing in the desert. He said they were flying a bomb down and
the plane could barely make it back.

When he retired in 1992, Ron and Mary started traveling North America and Europe by RV. They enjoyed stopping, exploring, hiking
and meeting wonderful people everywhere. They joined Campers with a Mission and built churches and schools across the
Southern United States.

They bought their home in Indian Harbor Beach in 1981. The last 20 years, Rom and Mary have called the First Baptist
Church of Indialantic their faith family.

Ron loved the Lord, his wife Mary and his three daughters unfailingly. Always calm, gentle and reasonable, he made life
enjoyable for all around him. Ron passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2022. And he’s alive today with Jesus!
