Ronald Scott Emert, 64, of Port St. John Florida, passed away on June 29, 2021 after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
Scott was born in Washington, D.C. on November 17, 1956. He was a 1976 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in Springfield, VA.
Scott was married to Julie Emert for 32 wonderful years. He enjoyed cars, sports (a lifelong Washington Redskins fan), fishing, eating crabs and most of all spending time with family. Those who knew him enjoyed his jokes, his smiles and his laid-back ways. He will be greatly missed.
Scott is survived by his wife Julie, son Spencer (Ashley) Emert, daughter Sara Emert, grandchildren Natalie Thomas, Bryce Emert, Ashton Emert, Conor Emert and Colton Emert, sister Karen Emert, mother-in-law Judy Durkin, sisters-in law Lynn Hayes and Mary (John) Mullins, special family friends Shanna Thomas and Kelly Boyle. He is also survived by nieces Jessica (JJ) Bowes, Morgan Hayes, Olivia Mullins, Leslie (Lee) Elliott, nephews Robert Hayes, Logan Mullins, and Troy (Trisha) Kearns, grandnephews Chris (Amy) Elliott, Justin (Kasey) Elliott and Ryan (Nora) Albright, 1 great grandniece and 3 great grandnephews.
Scott is preceded in death by his father Howard K. Emert, mother Margaret R. Emert, brother Gary H. Emert, sister Linda A. Tomblin and brother-in-law Franklin (Tommy) Tomblin.

My husband was an Army Veteran and they draped him with the American Flag as they were removing him from VITAS Hospice. We just had a wonderful experience at Island cremation with my father-in-law’s funeral. We had three meetings before the ceremony even started to make sure that everything was going to be done properly and that we’re all on the same page. Island cremation arranged for the Marines to come and do a flag honor ceremony that was an excellent touch and made the whole ceremony very memorable. The funeral home was very clean and they even had masks and hand sanitizer set out. They helped setting up our food plus supplied some of their own. Very professional and highly recommended.

I had a Celebration of Life for my husband on his birthday last Friday.

Island Cremations helped me plan for the Funeral. They have been like family. I even brought my husband’s miniature poodle.

Dillon, Mike & Dawn helped me set up and clean up. We brought in food and drinks. I had a soft jazz CD playing in the rooms. The alter had my husband’s Dolphin Urn and flowers. His picture with him holding a 52 pound Dolphin was on a projector screen above the alter.

Pastor Babington did a wonderful sermon. The family & friends spoke of memorial times.

We all thank you for your kindness and warmth for this Celebration of Life for my husband.
